The Season of Silence
In the Bible, sometimes, God appeared to be silent. It was approximately 430 years when the Hebrew nation were slaves in Egypt. During this time, they prayed and cried to God, but God was silent.
What about the time between the last recorded Prophet, Malachi, and John the Baptist? It was approximately 400 years. God appeared to be silent.
Now, from Jesus’s resurrection to date, approximately 2,000 years, God appears to be silent.
However, we are at an advantage. We know how the story finishes. It is difficult when you are in a period of trial and it seems to drag on and on, and you wonder if God has forsaken you.
It was approximately 30 years from the time Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery to the time he became Prime Minister. This was a long time to wait, right?
So, are you in a season of silence? Remember that when God appears to be silent, He is working behind the scene and we are so fortunate to have the Bible and the Holy Spirit to hold on to.
Read Psalm 37 and focus on verse 7. Also read Psalm 38 and focus on verse 15.
Will you wait on God during this period of silence?
